Favourite regional getaways
What are your favourite quick getaways for five or 6 days. What options are there that are a single flight from Phnom Penh? E.g. there is now a direct flight from Phnom Penh to Phuket with Air Asia.
Hong Kong (pre-protests)
Bali
Borneo
Seoul
KL (Sunway lagoon for kids)
Singapore (aquarium, zoo, etc.)

How'd ya get to Borneo?
I know I could put it in skyscanner but it's more interesting to hear from someone who has made the trip?

Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park And Botanical Garden in Bangkok is nice. The trains go to a lot of less beaten areas down south. Seeing Bangkok the first time for me then, was such an experience, so I go back to relive that trip, again and again. I'd like to try one of those coastal train routes in Japan, looks amazing on film.
Bugger sorry, yep, wasn't a direct flight of course - quick layover in KL.

Why fly? Take a taxi from PP to Ha Tien border ( about 3 hours) Then another across the border to Phu Quoc ferry terminal ( 5 mins). Fast ferry takes around an hour. Nice relaxed beach holiday (clean beach) with excellent seafood restaurants etc.
Up the workers!

I'm pretty sure I did a write up on this - this is a seven hour trip (and I drive faster than a taxi). Not discouraging it, but it's a bit of a trek (involves a lot of effort).kungfufighter wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:58 pmWhy fly? I like cities so of course enjoy weekends in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, and less frequently Saigon. Hit me up for suggestions on any of these.
I think the nonstop to Da Nang is by and far the best bet for a beach weekend (then upon arrival go down to stay in Hoi An). The AirAsia flights to Phuket work.... but are at absolutely shit times. You could book a flight to another Thai island on Air Asia or Bangkok Air not too difficulty with a quick layover in Bangkok (faster and easier than transiting somewhere through KL).
There is also a direct flight to Vientiane, but you wouldn't want to be there for five days, and may want a bit longer to get to and explore Luang Prabang.
If it's with the wife and kids, an easy, safe, enjoyable and affordable five night trip would be to fly into Thailand and do three nights at the beach (direct taxi to Pattaya or better yet, but longer taxi, to Hua Hin) and then two in Bangkok. She'll get to do some shopping and if you time it right you can have a fun hash.
