Short crust pastry, forgeddabout it. Gluten intolerance is, embarrassingly, real.
Is MSG the reason for so many barang heart attacks?

Everything that tastes good is chock-full of MSG. Bacon, olives, parmigiana, anchovies, fish sauce, those little burnt bits on roasts and steaks you find when you de-glaze...Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 9:27 pmYou could just go to a French or Italian place or something. It's not like every restaurateur and chef in the country is involved in some conspiracy to sneak MSG into everyone's meals in the hopes that they'll get hooked and get headaches and then come back for more.
MSG is in a way a salt accelerant so you can use it to reduce salt intake.
I doubt the sacks of nature identical stuff they sell in Lucky are causing the ODs, unless they are cutting it with Fentanyl.

So be very careful with your daily dosages.

If you’ve already got low blood pressure issues then yes it can cause problems but then you wouldn’t take an ED drug anyway because you should aware of the risks.
More men have heart attacks/pass out during sex who’ve not taken an ED drug.

It's unfortunate that YTP has chosen to respond the way that he has when a more informed/reflective person would, in all probability, have responded in an entirely different way.
YTP - it is no accident that in better developed countries with well developed health systems and which conduct trials of ALL pharmaceutical products that can be registered and imported in to that country list ...Sildenafil (aka Viagra etc now that it is off patent)... as a Prescription Only pharmaceutical product and NOT as an OTC - Over The Counter pharmaceutical product, as is it's case in Cambodia and in some other lesser developed countries.
It is also a truism, as borne out on this and related forums, that many males coming to Cambodia at a later stage of life are, shall we say, not in the best of physical or medical condition. Indeed, many of them may be or should be taking a daily tablet for hypertension, and, quite probably, other daily medications as well. Then there is the matter of inactivity and regular and unwise levels of alcohol consumption, all of which are relevant to the matters raised in my posting. Other medication are frequently not compatible with the regular use of Sildenafil, Let alone a history of regular and, in medical terms, excessive consumption of alcohol. I suspect that there are many readers of this forum that may personally relate to these characteristics.
So, YTP, believe what you wish but the facts are contrary to your rubbishing of my posting. So be it. Have it your way if you wish.
And there is no fool like an old fool when it comes to love making, or attempting to make love , regardless of prior medical advice to the contrary.
But others may care to look at other facts just one of which is:

Gluten intolerance is certainly a thing, but not lethal, you just get a bad stomach if you eat it whilst intolerant.

Isn't beer full of gluten? Aside from Celiac's I thought there was little evidence of gluten sensitivity outside of that and newer research finds where there may be some genuine reaction (as opposed to hipster lifestyle choices and invented intolerance) that these are actually linked to fructans present within certain foods and often mistaken for gluten intolerance.

I thought OML had said his goodbyes a week or so ago! Glad he changed his mind but if he is a protected species/ OAP then the forum is heading in the wrong direction.

That's like the George Jung of the MSG world, and alot of dead bodies.
I hope you sleep well.
Anyway, lets face it, Cambodia expats are probably some of the unhealthiest group of people on the planet. You are slobs.
A lack of cardio exercise is surely something better to worry about than MSG. Along with cutting down on animal fats.

Gluten intolerance is more than an upset stomach, I can assure you!
For me it’s exhaustion and physical pain - sometimes I can’t walk because the soles of my feet hurt.
It’s aching bones and muscles, weird skin rashes and spots, and feeling disgusting.
It may not be lethal but I certainly feel like I’m dying at times.
If I accidentally eat the wrong thing I feel it for days.

psychosomatic symptons are very common in developing countries
high levels of anxiety are a common occurance and combined with panic attacks you have the recipe for the westerner to succumb to many and varied ailments.
followed by the usual depressive outcomes its a volatile mix of near impossible symptons to treat unless you can take about 5 or 6 different medications per day.
self treating with alcohol and of course all the other shit on the street including the ladies of street is slipper slope indeed.
usually the quickest and most reliable fix is to return to your clean safe familiar loving surroundings in the developed country whence you came from.

No, MSG is not the culprit.
No, I don't try to avoid MSG as it is perfectly safe (or, as safe as salt)
if you want to avoid MSG then the only way to be 100% sure is to cook for yourself, and not just in Asia. Mcdonalds/KFC/Burger King etc, in fact nearly all fast-food restaurants use MSG in some form

Get the fuck outa here. I've never known a bigger hypochrondiac. FInding somewhere to eat with RobW ("can't go for an indian, can't do pasta or pizza, can't drink alcohol") is impossible.
You're a wuss.
South Indian can.
Pasta and pizza: cannot.
British beer: cannot. Asian beer and Peroni: can. But I make exceptions 'cause I'm a drunk.
It's real and it really really hurts. You're lucky if you don't suffer.
