Hi, I have an iPad that may have been hacked. It has glitches now that it never did.
I won’t bore you with those details, but I don’t think it’s the iPad’s fault. I would like my machine checked to see if there’s been some ‘monkey business’ going on.
Can a P.P. expat recommend an Apple Service Center that can give my iPad a ‘checkup’ to see what’s up and fix whatever needs fixing?
Much Appreciated,
Savittre
I Need a Good Apple Service Center or Tech Guy!
I doubt an Apple store in Phnom Penh could yell if youve been hacked. If it were me I'd go to Craig at XLS [email protected]

Savittre, how did things work out with your iPad?
Once I get set up over there, I may need some tech solutions as well, so will be good to know if Craig was helpful. Thanks in advance.

Take off all the stuff you need; do a factory reset to clear up any funny business. See if it is working again "normally" or if the glitching still occurs. If normal, put your stuff back on.

If you got a hardware problem, there are numerous smaller shops around town who can fix it, at reasonable rates. I suggest you hook up with a trustworthy local, and have them help you.

techietraveller84, I didn’t see Craig. I don’t know him, if he’s not working for Apple, I’d be concerned about him.
I just want an Apple professional to *diagnose* if there’s anything wrong with my machine, if there is, fix it, if nothing’s wrong, I’ll have the peace of mind to know that.
That must surely be possible in P.P.!
I went to the iOne Service Center on Mao Tse Tung at 63rd, no help there. They asked what the problem was; the glitches I’ve had are random, (e.g. All my email prior to 28/1/20 has been deleted, also, one website I use keeps reloading with a “There was a problem, the page is being reloaded.” And this repeats! But a friend has no problem like that with the same website, which points to a problem with my machine. I have photo albums, one day an emoji appeared beside the title of one of the albums- I never do that!- which points to unauthorized access of my machine). They didn’t *diagnose* these things, just verbal responses, “Well, maybe...” etc. No more than that from them. Excuses. They assured me though that my machine is fine!!
I also went to Uni Young, on Calmette St (53), near the Central Market. They asked what the problem was; I’m not 100% sure, I think their *diagnosis* would reveal that. They told me, somewhat rudely, that if I didn’t know what the problem was, they couldn’t fix it. No diagnosis or attempt to help me.
If I knew the problem, I’d be halfway to fixing it myself!
This morning, Siri posted a map of Apple Authorized Service Centers on my Safari page. There must be a reason for that!!
I had a problem with my previous Apple machine 4 or 5 years ago, I took it to an Apple Center in P.P., the tech guy got right to it, *very* professional, fixed it up for me, I was very satisfied! As it was years ago, I forget which Apple Center I took it to.
But if I can get that level of service quality in 2014~2015, surely I can get it now! In P.P.!
That’s where it’s at. Can any of you please help me out with this? I need a professional tech guy at an Apple Service Center, someone who really knows their stuff!
Thanks!

No need to be concerned about him, Craig is a longish term expat and a good bloke. If he could fix he would & if he couldn't he would let you know.Savittre wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:10 pmHi All,techietraveller84 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:15 amSavittre, how did things work out with your iPad?

I'd suggest going to Viet Nam if you want an official Apple service provider.

Your problems sound really odd, and I would suggest that you backup and re-install the latest system software available and avoid using smaller apps from questionable developers. You can't expect some local repair facility to find your 'glitch' or proof of any 'unauthorized access' if you are unable to reproduce it on the spot.
Thanks for the posts, ReasonstobefearfulP3 & citizenK.
I mention, in passing, that I think I could reasonably expect an Apple Authorized facility or Service Center to at least give my machine a check-up/clean bill of health, or otherwise.
How about some actual ‘Customer Service’ from these people- that *is* their job- instead of fast talk and a bad mood?
BTW, citizenK, I check that my machines’ OS and all apps are up to date before I use it on a daily basis. Just common sense, IMHO.
If you go to your doctor because you don’t feel well, but never experienced the symptoms you’re having, would you expect the doc to at least make an effort to find out what’s wrong, or should you expect the doc to say, “If you don’t know what’s wrong with you, I can’t help you.”
Thanks again!

I think citizenK is suggesting that you "reinstall" the latest system - regardless if you have it or not. Often it helps to give it all a complete refresh.
