Do they still have a chewing gum ban - or has that been confined to the dustbin of history ?Jaap N. wrote:^Singapore has similar lockdowns, I forgot the exact times but fairly early on weekend nights (something like 8pm or so) and public holidays. And I couldn't find shop that did sell, stayed in Little India, no idea about the rest of the city though.

I have no idea, never saw any sign about chewing gum, but I hardly ever chew gum, so I might have missed that..Petrol Head wrote:Do they still have a chewing gum ban - or has that been confined to the dustbin of history ?Jaap N. wrote:^Singapore has similar lockdowns, I forgot the exact times but fairly early on weekend nights (something like 8pm or so) and public holidays. I enjoy Little India btw - one of the few places in Singapore that has some soul.
There's this "scissor rice" place on the fringes which serves up malay style curries. They chop everything up with scissors. There was a queue that snaked out the door and round the corner - the popularity was definitely justified.

No it's a shot by Meng Wong in 1999, but captures fond memories of the place . I have a lot similar photos shot on 35mm, but all in storage. Used to stay in a hotel on Dunlop st. now long gone. Another favourite area was Joo Chiat road as there were quite a lot of Vietnamese girls to converse with!Petrol Head wrote:^ tell me the bottom pic is from your personal collection.
