Police Crackdown Continues: Jailbait Mamasan Nailed
Phnom Penh – Police from Phnom Penh’s Anti-human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department, led by Deputy Prosecutor Hao SayNa, arrested a mamasan and her male help for prostitution in connection with some Vietnamese girls (mostly underage, one still a virgin) they were harboring. The arrests occurred at 12:50 pm of the 21st of September, 2012, and were the result of a two pronged police operation that took place in Tuol Kork District and Chamkarmon District.
The operation, coordinated by Keo Tea, head of the Anti-human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department, acting under the directive of Phnom Penh police chief, Touch Narot, and the deputy police chief and head of the Crime Fighting Department, Bain Rot, led to the combined arrest of the Vietnamese mamasan, her house manager, a motodop driver, a cook, a 11 year old youth and several young girls who had been sold into prostitution. Three of the arrested were later released after questioning, but the young female victims were forwarded to the Office of Social Affairs in Phnom Penh.
According to a police official who had participated in the operation, police had raided the មយូរ៉ា (a typo that can’t be translated) Guesthouse, located on Street 234, Psar Darm Kor Commune, Tuok Kork District, where they netted three of the girls.
From there the operation proceeded to the premises of House 32, Street 278, Boeung Keng Kong 1 Commune, Chamcarmon District*, where police took into custody the mamasan, a 31 year old Vietnamese woman named Ven Tiyong វិន ធីយ៉ុង, and a 29 year old male named Ven Tiyong who managed the stable of young girls there.
The police official stated that nine girls in all were taken into custody, including six that were at the house at the time they arrived. Rounded up in the raid as well were a motodop driver, a cook and a young boy. Police have identified them as follows:
